Men are not alone in the race to the perfect mid-section.  Many women quest to get the six pack abdominals of fitness models and female athletes such as fitness competitors. 

While female six pack abs require much of the same exercise and nutrition that it takes a man to achieve the ultimate goal, there are several differences in the way to attack the goal of obtaining female 6 pack abs.

The above statement is both true and untrue.  It is true in the fact that most women can achieve a slim, sexy, toned mid-section at higher body fat percentages than men.  For example female six pack abs may appear at around 14% body fat for most females (give or take a few percentage points for age) but a man needs to get his body fat % down to around 8% again depending on age.

The catch is, females automatically have a higher body fat percentage than men due to the presence of estrogen therefore getting 6 pack abs is going to just as much work as a man, well almost.  The fat distribution pattern of the majority of men is called the android distribution pattern. which is commonly referred to as the "apple," where women tend to distribute fat in the gynoid pattern aka the "pear."

This means even with the same relative level of body fat, a woman is likely to achieve female six pack abs easier than a man simply because fat is stored in the hips, thighs and sometimes arms and not in the mid-section like men.

 

How can a Woman Achieve Female Six Pack Abs?

The same ingredients go into any six pack abs program.  A variety of high intensity exercises including weight training and high intensity interval cardio should always be the base if you want to achieve six pack abs fast.  Long duration cardio such as marathon running and walking is also welcome in a six pack abs for women exercise program but it will slow down the results as opposed to the high intensity program.

Ab exercises should be saved for the last part of the program as you reach your six pack abs goal.  You'd rather be spending your time burning maximum calories with cardio exercise.  Full body weight training exercises are also recommended but cardio is going to be the number 1 priority if you have high body fat levels at the outset of your six pack abdominals exercise program.

Nutrition needs to be low calories.  The best way to achieve a low calorie diet is not usually calorie counting.  Many people simply cannot count calories for a variety of reasons.  If healthy foods are the base of a diet, the amount of calories consumed will almost always be lower than a junk food diet.

For female six pack abs a woman needs to eat extremely clean and drink a lot of water to go along with the exercise program.  The same "clean" foods that work for male bodybuilders work for women looking for female six pack abs but obviously in less quantities.

The 1st law of thermodynamics will always hold true so portion sizes must be controlled.  This means if the body eats more calories than it burns fat will be stored.  The body needs to burn more calories than are consumed therefore clean, healthy foods making up the base of the diet put you on the right path for female six pack abs success.  These foods on the list must be consumed in low quantities for the diet to have low calories which is necessary to burn maximum fat.
